The Central Statistical Office (CSO) was established by the Statistics Act of 1967 to collect and
analyse statistics. Its mission is “to effectively coordinate the National Statistical System, provide
high quality statistical data and information required for evidence-based policy, planning and
decision-making for national socio-economic development, administration, accountability, and to
promote a culture of using statistics”.
